People use kratom for a variety of different reasons like; chronic pain, social anxiety, sleeping disorder or recreationally. But a lot of people not know how to use kratom in a good way. Recommended dose for beginners
For beginners it is strongly suggested to start low (1 or 2 grams max) and build up your dosage slowly. If a beginner takes a high dosage of kratom, it probably won’t be a very pleasant experience, since it can lead to nausea and drowsiness.
Kratom users report that starting out with 2 grams or less is the best dose for beginners. If you don’t feel anything after two hours, you can take another dose of 2 grams or less.
Please keep at least 2 hours in between the first and second time of consuming kratom. Sometimes it takes a little longer to reach its full effects. Taking kratom too quickly after your first dose can also lead to nausea.
Some beginners feel the effects of kratom the first time they take kratom, others feel nothing. Feeling nothing the first few times is perfectly normal.
Your body needs time adjusting to the working substance of kratom (alkaloids). Therefore slowly build up your dose of kratom and after 3 to 4 times you should start noticing the full benefits of kratom.
When to take kratom?
Kratom can best be taken on an empty stomach. the reason for this is that this way the alkaloids will be absorbed by your body much faster. You also reduce the chance of getting nauseous.
For people less sensitive to nausea it’s possible to take kratom on a full stomach although it will take longer to enjoy the full effects.
How to use kratom?
Kratom can be consumed in many ways.
The most popular ways of ingestion are:
- Dissolving in a drink of choice
- Toshing and washing
Kratom is hydrophobic which means it will not dissolve easily in liquids. This means that you’ll have to stir quite a bit to make sure that all the kratom is completely emerged in the liquid.
This might take a minute or two.
The best way to dissolve kratom is by filling a glass with a drink of your choice. Some of the best liquids to mix kratom with are:
- Orange juice
- Grapefruit juice
- Chocolate milk
Orange juice, grapefruit juice and chocolate milk are great at masking the bitter taste of kratom. After filling the glass you put your preffered dose of kratom into the glass. After adding kratom to the glass, start stirring.
You will slowly start to see the kratom dissolve in your drink. After a few minutes you’re ready to go. Enjoy!
The taste can be quite unpleasant for some people, that’s why users take another drink to wash away the bitter taste. Drinks like: strawberry yoghurt, orange juice, grapefruit juice or syrup are good at masking the taste.
If it still tastes awful you can try closing your nose.
Tip: in our experience, chocolate milk and grapefruit juice are the best in masking the taste of kratom.
Toshing and washing
The fastest way of consuming kratom is by tosh- and washing it. It is by far the quickest way of consuming kratom, but it requires some experience.
Start by filling your mouth with water until your tongue is fully covered with water. After, put the dose of kratom on your tongue and quickly wash it away with more water.
This way you won’t taste anything and it can be done in a matter of a minute. Learning how to properly tosh and wash can take some practice. If not done properly the kratom can get stuck to the inside of your mouth, which won’t be a very pleasant experience. Trust me, I’ve tried.
Make sure to get a glass of orange juice, chocolate milk or any other drink of choice to wash away the possible after taste.

Moral of the story: everybody has their own way, but whatever you do, never smoke or snort kratom. It can potentially be dangerous and it isn’t efficient at all.
